Sector: Life Coaching
Function: Owner/ Holistic Life Coach
Tribes location: Amsterdam Zuidas -> Flexible
Something about me: From an early age, I decided that I wanted to work on my own terms. My guiding principle has always been to be able to do what I want, when I want, where I want and with whomever I want. Of course, this could only lead to one thing: self-employment! I am lucky to have found a vehicle that allows me to live this lifestyle and at the same time carry out my soul’s mission.
Fun fact: I am currently on my fourth career. I went from being a finance professional to a hospitality professional to personal trainer to a life coach. And it all makes perfect sense (ask me to tell you why 😉). I have lived in Curacao and Mexico and have emigrated (and returned) twice. Oh yeah, I also once weighed 100kg and lost 25kg in three months without going on a diet.
The origins of my company: Sho.coach is about helping people maximize their lives. I’ve seen too many people settle for less, and I think that is a shame. It is my personal mission to inspire and help as many people as possible to move towards a life that truly excites and fulfills them.
I am what is often called an “experience expert”. Having personally dealt with and overcome burn-out, depression, being overweight, and a host of other struggles, I have gained a wealth of knowledge and a unique perspective. I have built on my personal experience by studying nutrition, exercise, stress and sleep, and most importantly, personal development and human behavior.
The core business of my company: I offer integrative coaching programs that combine online coaching with in-person guidance. I focus on helping people live healthy and happy lives. My core programs are: Burn-out Prevention/Recovery, Life Design and Health Transformation.
The best of Sho.coach: A structured approach to a healthy and fulfilling life! Maximize your life! Yes, you can!
The biggest success of my company: Every person who rediscovers their spark is a success to me! I love to see the fire come back in people’s eyes!
Just another day at the office: I usually start with a morning routine that consists of some meditation, light exercise and visualization. Next, I’ll have breakfast. Then I will sit down (preferably in the garden) and open my computer to read and respond to all the diaries my clients have filled in for the previous day. I’ll then take a shower, get dressed and head for the South Axis.
Typically, I’ll spend a large part of my day creating content for my clients and for my (online) programs. I’ll prepare whatever coaching sessions I have planned and schedule in some time to prepare and recap afterwards. At some point, I’ll feel overloaded mentally, which is usually my cue to go for some physical activity at Clubsportive. I typically mix in some business/pleasure coffee dates throughout the day.
In the evenings, I retreat for a while to recharge from all the impulses of the day (I’m an introvert at heart, albeit a very social one 😉).
The best part about my job: I love to learn and help people. Helping people is my default mode, and inspiring people and being a positive influence in as many people’s lives as possible makes me happy. I am very grateful that I can do something that totally aligns with my personal nature.
Are you a business nomad: Yes, very much so. I never leave my house without my notepad, my laptop and my backpack. I have various spots on the South Axis where I work, and I sometimes go to the beach to do some work. I like to mix pleasure with business as much as I can, and you can do that very well at the beach 😉. So, I am a domestic nomad for now, but I am totally planning to take on the digital adventure again and explore the globe looking for more inspiring people and practitioners to connect with.
I would still like to develop myself in: Mmmm, this is a tricky one. The one thing that comes to mind is not so much professional but more personal. Building a business and totally transforming your life is not an easy feat; therefore, I have very much put most of my focus on building a business and developing myself personally and professionally. My focus now lies on developing myself more socially.
Last visited event: Mastermind day at Scheveningen.
Favorite gadget: My selfie stick/tripod!
Means of transport: Public transport.
Social media: All and more! I use every network out there, but mostly for business. While I love the potential it has, I rarely consume it. I personally believe that it can be a very good force in your life, but if you use it without awareness, it will eat up all of your time and (creative) energy. Furthermore, it will enhance all that you already are, so if you are insecure and have low self-esteem, this will be enhanced. And if you are a bastard in real life, you’ll be a major asshole online.
Favorite app: Adobe Spark! Hands down the best find in years. I love it!
I always have these products with me: Notepad—big and small. Fine-liner pen and an ink pen. Laptop. Selfie stick. Highlighter, bottle of water, backpack!
In my personal time, I'm busy with: I am a lifelong learner, so I usually dedicate a lot of time to reading, listening to podcasts and watching videos. I rarely go out, but when I do, I’ll go for quality with people I really connect with! No, I am not a hermit. I spend all of my day around fun people on the South Axis, so my personal life blends a lot with my professional life.
Why Tribes: It is very convenient because it is right around the corner. I love the design, the feel of the place, and the staff are very attentive and nice. Furthermore, I have always wanted a place with a nice desk space and ambiance where it is guaranteed to be quiet. As a nomad, I want to have a place where I can be sure I can sit down and work, as opposed to finding a coffeeshop somewhere with the right vibe and setup. Sometimes that works out well, but sometimes I want to do “deep work” and need to focus.
My first impression of Tribes: I love the design and the vibe. I find it very inspiring. I was blown away the day I saw the owner walk by and looked at the picture on the wall and I realized that it was really him. I had always though it was an actor!
