Hybrid work is the future: a combination of home and office work. Both workplaces offer both opportunities and challenges. At home, you don't have the distraction of colleagues standing at your desk, but you also have the household to deal with. So how do you make sure you get the most out of your workplace? We have listed 5 tips for you.

1. Plan your focus time on your home office days

Plan the tasks you need to concentrate and focus on the days when you work from home. It's a shame to fill those days with Zoom meetings, use them instead to get on with your work. This way, you don't have to do those tasks while sitting in a crowded and cosy office.

2. Hold meetings and brainstorming sessions at the office

If there's one thing we know for sure thanks to Corona, it's that Zoom and Teams are great solutions, but not ideal. Plan your meetings on the days you're at the office, so you can talk to each other face-to-face. A brainstorm or consultation goes much better without faltering connections or uncooperative microphones and cameras.

3. Plan your social moments with colleagues

To be able to socialize and work optimally at the office, agree with colleagues when you are going to have a break. Put a time in your calendar each day and step away from your computers to catch up. At Tribes, for example, you can sit at the bar or the communal table and then focus on your work again.

4. Work hybrid and flexible

Flexible working is not only about a flexible workplace, but also about flexible hours. Discuss whether your hybrid work policy includes flexible hours, so you can plan your day to get the most out of it. Quietly work through your emails before you go to the office or go home earlier to process the results of your meetings.

5. Plan your household chores!

Can't rest until your house is tidy? Then make sure everything is done before you start your home-working day. So, plan: decide in advance when you want to get something done. Plan those tasks in time, on the evenings of your office days or in the weekends, or get up an hour earlier on your home-working days. Still can't let it go? Then book a flexible workplace; you can work with our Tribes Day Pass for just €15 for a day.

In fact, hybrid working comes down to one key element: planning. It may take some getting used to, to think not only about the duration of a task but also about the impact of the environment in which you are going to do it. Make sure they fit together. And don't be obsessed with days and times; if you can be flexible in both place and time, you can get the most out of your working day.
