This month’s Member Spotlight shines on Fatimah Ali, the creative force behind KNOW Your Magic, a unique consultancy that blends color theory with creativity to help women and children unlock their true potential. As a color analyst, Fatimah uses the power of colors to guide personal growth, build confidence, and inspire artistic expression. In this interview, Fatimah shares her journey from discovering the language of colors to creating tailored experiences that connect her clients to their authentic selves.

Hi Fatimah! Could you tell us a little about KNOW Your Magic and your role as a color analyst?

KNOW your magic began 5 years ago when I was still employed and searching for more meaning in life and how I could be of service to others. Colors have always been a constant thread in my life, through thick and thin. I speak the language of colors and can translate them in any form. It was a logical next step for me to become an expert as a color analyst and bring the stories of colors to light. No matter how different we are as people, I believe that colors have the power to connect us.

What inspired you to combine color theory with creativity, and what do you find most rewarding about guiding others on their journey?

I've always been fascinated by how colors can evoke emotions. Combining color theory with creativity felt like a natural step, as it adds depth to any creative process. The most rewarding part is watching others connect with colors on a personal level and seeing their confidence grow as they learn to express themselves more freely. I live for those "aha" moments when people realize how much control they have over their creative expression simply by understanding color. I witness my clients transform, unlocking their potential as they explore creativity with newfound confidence and joy. Color is one of the most powerful forms of non-verbal communication, and blending color theory with creative exploration allows people to discover new ways to express themselves. Seeing my clients trust their instincts and create things that truly resonate with who they are gives me a deep sense of fulfillment.

How does KNOW Your Magic help women and children uncover their inner colors and develop their unique voices?

I offer a membership for women that includes exclusive one-on-one color sessions. Each session is tailored to the color grid they completed during the intake process, so no program is the same. The hands-on activities are designed based on the analysis of their color grid and incorporate a mix of art forms, such as geometric drawing, writing, and spoken word. The 5 pillars are:

· Who are you (authenticity)

· A smile every day (joy)

· Living from essence, heart (intuitive)

· Continuously learning, developing, and growing (innovative)

· Create your wonders and be a beacon of hope for others (magic)

For children I use the following art forms:

· Language and writing in Dutch and English

· Visual arts: focused on nature

· Writing art: typography, hand lettering, and calligraphy

· Mixed Media Art: scrapbooking, junk journaling, mood boards Drawing and painting: creating basic shapes, patterns, and color palettes

From love and in a humorous way, I give each child the attention and confidence they need to grow creatively in their own way, at their own pace, and with respect for each other.

How do you see color theory and creativity shaping personal development in the future?

I imagine a world where color theory transforms personal development by merging emotional awareness with creativity. By understanding how colors influence our moods, individuals can make intentional choices that enhance their emotional well-being and creative expression. Color isn't just visual; it’s a powerful tool for mindfulness. Workshops and apps designed to explore feelings through color can lead to profound self-discovery, helping people connect more deeply with their emotions. Moreover, in creative communities, applying color theory can revolutionize collaboration. By recognizing how color affects teamwork dynamics, groups can create environments that boost communication and spark innovation. With technology evolving, we can take this even further. Virtual reality experiences will allow individuals to interactively explore color theory, making personal development engaging and accessible.

We’re delighted to have you as part of the Tribes Rotterdam Blaak community! What do you enjoy most about coworking at Tribes?

The sense of comfort and tranquility it provides allows me to focus entirely on my business. The lovely ladies working there take care of everything.

Finally, what does the future hold for KNOW Your Magic?

Well, I am a dreamer and see myself often on big platforms promoting the power of colors. I will continue to blend my creative passion with color analysis, discovering new ways to inspire others, opening doors to personal and professional growth. I am always researching and learning more about colors on a deeper level. This could lead towards innovative collaborations and creative breakthroughs. My intuitive connection to color may inspire fresh techniques and ideas, setting trends in creative industries. As I continue to evolve in my role as color analyst, I may find myself exploring new frontiers, like using color analysis in unexpected ways, perhaps in healing, environmental design, or even digital spaces, bridging the gap between creativity and well-being.

Thank you, Fatimah!
